SEND BACK YOUR OLD SHAFT TO GET A REFUND OF £50!!
The part in question here is the shaft that goes from the bulkhead to the steering rack, with a universal joint at each end. Not to be confused with the steering column.
When Porsche designed the 924, 944 and 968 models, they designed the left hand drive car first, and then designed the right hand drive version as a little bit of an afterthought.
As such they did not take into account that on the right hand drive cars, the steering shaft universal joints, and their sealed bearings, were very close to the exhaust, which causes the grease and seals to overheat and the steering shaft bearings to wear quickly.
Our improved version of the Porsche 924S, 944 and 968 steering shaft is re-manufactured using used cores from returned steering shafts with every bearing (all eight) replaced with higher temperature bearings and bearing crosses.
They fit the following right hand drive models.
We usually have these in stock and ready to dispatch, we do not need your one right away. You can fit the replacement and then send us yours later, this allows your car to remain mobile.
We can also perform the same upgrade to left hand drive cars and the 924 models, but often will need you to send your part for re-manufacture, which if we have one in stock, can be sent to you on the same day as we receive yours, if we do not have one already prepared, we can often send you back your rebuilt one in a couple of working days.
