The alarm control units used in the Porsche 986 Boxster and Porsche 996 can suffer problems and failures with the main dealerships and most specialists opting to replace the units, along with new keys, rather than the original unit being repaired.
Sometimes these control units are replaced in error, when actually the problem is elsewhere in the car, key remote related, or even related to a fault elsewhere in the car.
This is mostly due to a lack of misunderstanding of how the systems work, mostly due to a lack of documentation even available to the main dealers.
At JMG Porsche we have reverse engineered the hardware and software used in these control units, and therefore can offer bench testing of your control unit.
